Shipbuilding and Repair

Located in the centre of the Atlantic Arc and the Atlantic Port La Rochelle, the Shipbuilding and Repair Centre has powerful tools and brings together companies with complementary expertise in the field of repair and shipbuilding. Now ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified on all its activities, the Atlantic Port La Rochelle offers specialised human and technical resources for the activity of this site.

Two dry docks

The port of La Rochelle has two dry docks:

  1. Dock 1: useful length 176 m, useful width 21.86 m.
  2. Dock 2: useful length 107 m, useful width 13.84 m.

The vessels must use providers approved by the Port for disposal of their wastes.

The Shipbuilding and Repair Centre of the Atlantic Port La Rochelle has a careening area for receiving 5 to 10 ships, transported by an elevator that can handle vessels up to 300 tonnes and 35 metres long, from a dock located in the immediate proximity of the two dry docks.

Two docks repair afloat:

Quai Camaret

Depending on the amount and type of waste generated, vessels located on the careening area and at the Quai Camaret must deposit their waste in the waste collection zone.

BF11 central position and Epi

Vessels in this must manage their waste in the same way as a ship in stopover.
The dry docks and careening area are connected to a runoff water treatment unit.

An area for waste collection

Depending on the amount and type of waste generated, vessels located on the careening areaand at the Quai Camaret must deposit their waste at the collection area

 

The dry docks:

  • 1  - Dock 1: useful length 176 m, useful width 21.86 m. Dock N°1 is dedicated to the Yachts Refit managed by Atlantic Refit Center
  • 2 -  Dock 2: useful length 107 m, useful width 13,84 m.

Repair area afloat and dry:

  • A careening area for dry repairs of 6000 m².

Tools:

  • An elevator 300 tonnes.

  • A forklift 4.5 tonnes.

Waste management

The Atlantic Port of La Rochelle has implemented a policy for managing waste from ships, promoting their sorting, recycling and recovery. The objective is to reduce waste discharges from vessels by improving the availability and use of waste reception facilities in the port, thereby improving the protection of marine environment.
